Watch this presentation. It gives some data about how our brains synthesize happiness.
What Steve and I determined is that the type of happiness is irrelevant. Unless you are just a really pessimistic person, you will be fairly happy whether your circumstances warrant it or not.
The key ingredient seems to be commitment. So our new motto is “Choose and stick with it.” Knowing you can change your mind and go a different way leads you to the trap of breaking your synthetic happiness simulator. With some background information to go by, any choice can be a good choice.
So instead of searching for happiness, let your brain generate it. (Or use Google, you’re sure to find it!)
